Bring Your Own Book
If you have a complete draft of a book, however rough, I will help you get it into the best possible shape with one (or all) of the services described below.
I work mainly with nonfiction writers, but I take on a few fiction clients each year.
Editing fees are set on a project-by-project basis.
MANUSCRIPT ASSESSMENT: I will write an easy-to-follow report (8-12 pages) that offers an analysis of the book's strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for development in terms of its content, structure, and the quality of the writing. This report will help you redraft the book yourself, or with my help.
CONTENT EDITING: I address issues relating to the hook and theme of your book, the way the material is organised, and the quality/clarity/appropriateness of the writing. Editing suggestions are made on the manuscript. MS Word documents only.
A free sample edit is available.
COPYEDITING: This kind of edit focuses on polishing the language, eliminating spelling and grammar errors, ensuring consistency and clarity, and highlighting (or correcting) awkward phrasing. A free sample edit is available. MS Word documents only.
Please note: This is NOT the same as proofreading, see below.
PROOFREADING: This is the final stage of the editing process that is carried out when the book has been formatted for publication in a PDF format. As well as looking for typos and other errors in the text, I also look for formatting and design/layout errors.
