Bring Your Own Book
If you have a complete draft of a book, however rough, I will help you get it into the best possible shape with one (or all) of the services described below.
Editing fees are set on a project-by-project basis.
MANUSCRIPT ASSESSMENT: I will write an easy-to-follow report (8-12 pages) that offers an analysis of the book's strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for development in terms of its content, structure, and the quality of the writing. This report will help you redraft the book yourself, or with help from a writing coach.
COPYEDITING: Copyediting can be light, medium, or heavy, depending on the needs of the manuscript. At the lightest end, editing focuses on polishing the language, eliminating spelling and grammar errors, ensuring consistency and clarity, and highlighting (or correcting) awkward phrasing. At its heaviest, copyediting will highlight issues with coherence, flow, theme, narrative and character consistency, tone, and other "big-picture" issues. The level of copyediting required is discussed and agreed with the client.
PROOFREADING: This is the final stage of the editing process that is carried out when the book has been formatted for publication in a PDF format. As well as looking for typos and other errors in the text, I also look for formatting and design/layout errors.
